Outlane cannot defend their Sub-Team KO title

Veterans League

The reigning Sub-Team KO Champions, Outlane, are not able to defend their hard-won title as they were promoted to the Team KO competition this year due to their 2023 finishing League position. Last year's runners-up were Huddersfield Recreation Club and they will try to go one better this year starting with a tie against Division 3 team Lindley Lib B. The teams swapped places this season as the Recreation Club lost out in the League's rebalancing exercise whilst the Lindley team were promoted as Division 4 Champions.

The Lindley Lib B side are one of four teams in the competition with a scratch handicap and they all avoid meeting each other at this stage. Springwood are in that quartet of teams and they are also one of four teams drawing byes straight into the Round of the Last 16 where they will play Kirkheaton Con B on 11 July. The other two teams to enjoy a bye being Dalton and Kirkheaton C&BC B.

The top two teams in Division 5 are well poised to progress with big handicap starts against higher-placed opposition. Leaders Netherton Con B have a 23 points handicap start over Skel Windmill who are off scratch despite sitting in a Division 3 relegation place. David Brown Sports have a more difficult looking task by having to overcome the top placed team in the competition, Paddock I&C who are in 4th position in Division 3, are playing off scratch and have to fill an 18 points start that their opponents have.

Holmfirth B and Broad Oak B have both withdrawn from the competition providing Marsh Lib and Meltham B with byes through to the next round which will be played on Thursday 11 July.
