Veterans League
There will be a new name on the Over-80's trophy this year with no previous winners into Finals Day to be played at Skelmanthorpe Windmill from 1.30pm tomorrow (Thursday 1 August).
On a personal note I very much hope that my long-time pairs partner Gordan Walker can go one step further than he has done before. Gordon is a three-times runner-up in this competition and deserves a bit of luck for his perseverance. Having previously lost in the Final to Frank Greenwood twice and Eddie Hines of Kirkheaton C&BC. I will be there supporting him in his latest attempt.
In the semi-finals Gordon takes on last year's runner-up Trevor Sykes of Marsh United who lost out to Eddie Haigh who himself lost out in the opening round of this year's competition. Roy Sutton is no stranger to the later stages of this competition having lost three times at the semi-final stage and trying to avoid that obstacle once again his year.
Finals Day
