Winter League
The new Pairs KO competition reaches another milestone with post-Christmas entries pushing the total up to 80 pairs signed up. That is 160 bowlers that have joined in for another day (at least) of bowling outside in the middle of winter - we must be a little bit crazy!
That total passes the League record of 154 entries we had for the Winter Cup individual KO competition last season. Entries for that have also started to roll in for the 2025 version and we have more about that tomorrow with details of some revised dates which you will need to know about.
The split of entries by division shows that last Friday's turnout of 18 pairs was the best to date with only three more qualifying rounds to be played. With currently only 11 entries from the Divisions 2 and 8 teams then the intention is to play both on the same date on the same Thorpe Green green. They will be played as separate KO competitions with 2 entries progressing through from each division to the Round of the Last 16.
There is still time to enter for the Divisions 2, 5 and 8 qualifying rounds. These being played on Friday 24 January (Division 5) and on Friday 31 January (Divisions 2 and 8). There is an 11.00am start time and bowlers are asked to register on matchday by 10.45am to enable the draw to be made ready for a prompt 11.00am start time.
If you are interested in entering the competition please be aware that the later stages will be played on Friday 14 February (Round of the Last 16 and bowling down to 4) and then Finals Day is on Friday 21 February when the semi-finals and final will be played out to produce the first ever winners of the Robert Hitchen Cup so kindly sponsored by Elland WMC.
