R.I.P. Jack Hewitt aged 100

Rest in Peace

Very sad to inform you of the passing on 30 October of Lindley Lib bowler Jack Hewitt aged 100. Jack won the Veterans League Over-80's title twice in 2006 and 2008. The year 2006 was a vintage year for Jack as he also won the Over-70's title which he also won in 2001 and 2002. The photo below shows Jack (2nd from the left) alongside the 2014 Over-80's KO Finals Day bowlers at Almondbury Lib.

The formal notice in The Examiner reads ...

Jack HEWITT

Passed away peacefully at home after a short illness aged 100 Years, formerly of Sheepridge.

Jack, Beloved Husband to Karen. Precious Dad to David and Shirley. Loving Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle and good friend to many throughout his life.

The celebration of Jack's life will take place at Huddersfield Crematorium on Thursday 14th November at 2:45pm.

By request of the family donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Society for which a donation box will be available after the service.

Here follows a selection of press cuttings provided by Dave Parkin showing the range of league and representative honours for Jack Hewitt spread over many years.
