Winter League

Review of Division 3 matches played on Monday 18 October 2021

The second week of the Division 3 season and a second win for Rastrick 'B' to keep them at the top of the early table. A 6-2 win over Lowerhouses 'B' giving them a 2 point lead over Thorpe Green 'C' who whitewashed Brockholes 8-0.

There was a whitewash win for Lindley BC 'B' as they started their season with a win and are the only other unbeaten team in the division. This match featured a game of a really high standard between Steve Haigh and Jeff Mellor who were locked together at 9-across before Steve found a mark to accelerate away and claim a 21-11 win. This result was the biggest singles win of the day which is a bit unfair on the loser after such a strong first half.

The biggest pairs win of the day came when the Thorpe Green pairing of Alan Hobson and David McClean racked up a 21-6 score over their Brockholes opponents which contributed to a whitewash win for the host club and lift them into second place in the early table.

The final match in this week's quartet of fixtures resulted in the closest contest of the day with a 52-51 aggregate win for Dalton helping them to a first win of the season by 6-2 over Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' who still sit higher in 3rd place. The signs are all for a close run season with 7 of the 9 teams already tasting victory after two weeks of the campaign.
