Winter League
We are running this season with the record number of 54 teams in the League. With 6 host greens available to us that means we have six divisions with 9 teams in each division which is the maximum we can cater for this season.
Hopefully next year we will have a number of new teams to accommodate as well, and hopefully sufficient greens to satisfy the increase in demand. Our optimum number in a division is 8 teams. Should the totals add up to enable more 8-team divisions then the League will work towards that model of 8 teams in a division. That may result in some unexpected relegations at the end of the season. Some divisions may end up having 3 teams relegated to support any move towards 8 teams in a division.
Unlike some leagues, the model and being fair to all teams is more important than upsetting a couple of teams who could get unexpectedly relegated. We are never going to end up with uneven numbers - like 9 teams in some and 7 in other divisions. You have been warned. So teams should be looking at the tables and if they are sitting in a third from bottom place then they could well be in a relegation place.
