Safeguarding awareness sessions

Bowling News

An announcement from the BCGBA about some free training and awareness sessions about the role of a club's Safeguarding Officer which every club is now obliged to have. Please note that some of the sessions are next week on Monday and Wednesday.

British Crown Green Bowling Association (Official) Clubs are invited to book FREE places on the upcoming Bowls Development Alliance 'Online Learning' sessions.

As a sport, we are committed to safeguarding all those who participate in our sport, ensuring they can do so in a safe, positive and enjoyable environment. BDA Safeguarding Manager, Helen Price, works across our sport to promote our Safeguarding vision, values and good practice, and will deliver these sessions to ensure Clubs are aware of the support available.

Safeguarding – Safe Membership

Monday 12th August - 5pm to 6pm

Wednesday 14th August - 10am - 11am

This session will look at how clubs can develop a safe and fair membership system. The session will also cover how to report and manage self-disclosure and safeguarding concerns.

In addition to these sessions, further Safeguarding courses can be booked through the Bowls Development Website (Education Platform):

  • Safeguarding and Protecting Children This course provides a basic understanding and awareness of safeguarding and is recommended for bowls coaches and Club Safeguarding Officers/Volunteers as an introduction to safeguarding. (3 hours – Sports Coach UK)

  • Safeguarding in Bowls – “Time to Listen” This is a bowls specific module aimed at Club Safeguarding Officers/Volunteers whose clubs have junior members or sections and those who work with local school children providing taster sessions. (4 hours – Coach Bowls)

There's no better time to get your Club updated, and educated, to be fit to develop. Use the FREE BDA sessions as a great starting point.
