Preview of the fixtures in Divisions 1&2 of the 10-Man League for Tuesday 13 August

One point separates the 2nd and 3rd teams in Division 1 and they meet up this Tuesday with 3rd placed Marsh United A having home advantage over Longwood. Having lost their last two matches, the Marsh outfit will be keen to get back to winning ways and a win would probably push them past their rivals in the table. However Longwood are on a run of 4 straight wins and will be a formidable opponent I am sure. The leaders are Lowerhouses and with their nearest rivals otherwise engaged will look to steal a lead on both of them when hosting Rastrick who have won 4 of their last 5 fixtures to recover from a poor first half of the season.

The four teams above bottom-of-the-table Netherton Con A go up against each other as Lindley BC B host Golcar Lib A and Clayton West entertain Kirkheaton Con A with lots to play for. Netherton Con A are currently 10 points adrift at the foot of the table and that glimmer hope would increase tremendously if they can beat a Waterloo team that has lost 3 of their last 4 fixtures.

Last week the Division 2 leaders, Meltham, became the first team in any division to pass the 100 points mark and with a home match against one of their closest rivals, Elland C&BC, this Tuesday their lead of 19 points could grow even wider. Lindley Lib A could be the major beneficiary of a Meltham win as they sit second with a home fixture against bottom of the table Almondbury Lib. The meeting of Linthwaite Hall and Almondbury BC A presents a chance for one of the teams to divorce themselves from relegation matters and rise above the group of four teams clustered together above the bottom team and separated by 5 points. That would be bad news for Broad Oak A and Golcar Lib B who have to take on Milnsbridge A away and Shepley at home respectively with points likely to be ata a premium. The New Mill A v Thongsbridge A encounter already smacks of a mid-table meeting of no interest to matters at either end of the table except the two teams involved.
