Review of the Divisions 3 & 4 results of Monday 5 February

All Division 3 teams are reminded that next Monday (12 February) is the closing date for entry into the 2024 Winter Cup competition. Entry Form. The deadline for Division 4 bowlers has already passed and the 29 entries will compete for four places in the Round of the Last 24 next Tuesday (13 February).

A 4-4 draw between the bottom two teams in Division 3 didn't do either team any favours as the outlook looks increasingly bleak for both Primrose Hill Lib and Paddock I&C. However the two teams now above them in the table continue to wait for them to catch up as both suffered 0-8 defeats this week. Dalton going down to Hanging Heaton and Rastrick losing out to Thorpe Green B who leapfrog their opponents. That win for Hanging Heaton secured their promotion place with every likelihood of the title following that in a couple of weeks time.

Lindley Lib B had a good day beating Milnsbridge B which must surely signal the end of Milnsbridge's finals hopes of a promotion place. That second promotion spot seems destined for Marsh United who had the day off but will probably confirm their elevation next week. Lindley Lib B and Milnsbridge B were both promoted last season and have consolidated that position and will fancy their chances next season.

There was only one winning team in the top four in Division 4 and that was good enough to put Thorpe Green C into prime position for the title as they seriously damaged Netherton Con A chances of moving into contention. Having won the Division 5 title last season the Thorpe Green C team continue their upward pathway. That 6-2 win saw them overtake New Mill B who had an off-day against Kirkheaton C&BC going down 2-6 but that was a good performance by the Cricket Club to create space between themselves and the relegation places.

An interesting clash in the Almondbury BC A and Lowerhouses B fixture with two unbeaten records going head-to-head as Simon Neve (9/9) and Michelle Booth (6/6) met in a singles game. That game went right down to the wire with Michelle coming out on top 21-20 and helping her Lowerhouses team to a 6-2 win and a 7th victory in their last 9 matches. More importantly it left the Almondbury side in the drop zone with 3 matches left to play including meeting the top two teams in the division.

Lindley Lib C were another top four team to taste defeat going down 2-6 to Milnsbridge C who move with 2 points of their opponents but that only means consolidating their mid-table security after last season's promotion out of Division 5 which is still a very note-worthy achievement and a good platform from which to launch a promotion push next year.
