Review of the Division 1 fixtures played at Milnsbridge on Wednesday 22 January
A big 8-0 win for Division 1 leaders and reigning Champions, Thorpe Green A, saw them suddenly have a clear 16 points lead at the top of the table and well on their way to retaining the title. A third successive 8-0 scoreline and an eighth consecutive victory coupled with a second successive loss for Lower Hopton enabled the leaders to have one hand on the trophy already. Those results also saw Cowcliffe A and New Mill A overtake the Lower Hopton side who are two-times winners of the title themselves.
Cowcliffe A edged a tight encounter with relegation-threatened Meltham A with the 52-51 aggregate score giving them the two bonus points to add to their games count and a 6-2 win. Now clear in second place and a two-point lead over third-placed New Mill A who made it two wins in January after only claiming one December win from four played. The latest win being 6-2 over Lower Hopton which was ample revenge for the early season defeat by the same scoreline. A 6-2 win for Lindley Lib A over Kirkheaton Con A raised their hopes of avoiding the drop and although they remain bottom they now sit just 9-points away from safety.
