Winter League

Preview of the Thursday fixtures in Divisions 6 & 7

Division 6 at Netherton Con

The Division 6 host club has the opportunity to drag the table leaders back to the rest of the pack as Netherton Con B take on Almondbury BC A this Thursday. The Almondbury team has established an 8-points lead at the top of the table and have yet to taste defeat this season and has the only unbeaten record in the division. However the Netherton B side are on their own turf and should the weather turn colder and wetter as forecast it will be more familiar conditions to the homesters.

Mirfield A retain hopes of staying in the promotion mix and a good win this week against bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield Recreation Club B could push that dream nearer to reality. Brockholes B lost for the first time last week and will be keen to bounce back from that loss to the table leaders as they meet Springwood C who sit one place and two points behind them in the table.

Three teams are locked together at the foot of the table on the same 10-points total. The Recreation Club being one and the other two are competing to stay out of the second relegation place. Those two teams - New Mill C and Outlane - go head-to-head this Thursday.

Division 7 at Huddersfield RUFC

There is a top-two confrontation in Division 7 as the hosts and table toppers, Huddersfield RUFC, put their unbeaten record up against Cowcliffe's unbeaten record. Both teams have won 5 out of 5 with just 2 points between them. It is even tighter in the Aggregate For column with one point between the two teams so a key week in the season for both teams.

These two teams have a good lead over the rest and there are only 2 points between the next three teams. Two of those go up against each other this week when Marsh Lib play Kirkheaton Con B. It could be a good opportunity for Hanging Heaton B to push their own claims for honours as they play Broad Oak who are struggling to get their first victory of the season. The same applies for Lockwood Con B who have lost all of their five fixtures to date and this week play Meltham B.
