Preview of the Division 2 fixtures at Cowcliffe to be played on Tuesday 19 November
Hanging Heaton A and Marsh United were both promoted from Division 3 last season and now go head to head in attempting to repeat that act in Division 2 which is proving to be a very competitive division. Their meetings last season resulted in a 6-2 win for Marsh and the rare scoreline of 5-3 to Hanging Heaton who went on to win the title by 12 points.
Currently Hanging Heaton head the Division 2 table but only due to a greater Aggregate For total. This week the two rivals meet up and with both having won 2 of their 3 fixtures to date, ironically against the same two opponents, the two Lindley teams, they both remain to be challenged against the best that this Division can offer. For now, their old rivalry will suffice in testing their current form with both teams deternined to make their mark at this level.
Lowerhouses A have made a good start to the season and are unbeaten after three fixtures which included a 4-4 draw with the leaders Hanging Heaton. They sit third in the table after being overtaken last week by Golcar Lib who they play this Tuesday. Three wins from three matches for Golcar Lib shows an improvement on last season when, for some reason, they never fired on all cylinders and were very disappointed not to put up a better show which culminated in them being relegated. A fresh start has seen them come out determined to put up a better show and this week's fixture will be a good guide of their progress to date.
At the start of the season few would have expected to see Clayton West flirting in the relegation zone but that is where they currently find themselves. That makes all the matches against other teams in the lower half of the table of vital importance with one of those coming up this week. Lindley BC B sit one place below Clayton West and their 6 point advantage could soon disappear so this is an important match for both teams.
