Preview of the 6-Man League fixture programme for Monday 5 September
We have the top 6 teams v bottom 6 line-up this Monday in Division 1 matches with the top 3 teams all having home advantage as well. Shepley continue to lead the table and they have Longwood as visitors this Monday with their closest rivals, Honley Con, welcoming bottom-of-the-table Linthwaite Hall to their Lowerhouses home green. The Honley side have won their last two matches 7-0 and it would be no surprise to see a continuation of that form. Third-placed Golcar C&BC have played the two teams above them in their last two matches and lost them both but will find Lockwood Con a different proposition this week although they have won both of their last two away matches.
Lindley Lib 'A' need to start picking up points soon to narrow the current 14-point gap to safety from relegation but with a visit to Brockholes 'A', who have won their last 6 home fixtures, will find any points hard to come by.
Crosland Moor have only lost one home match all season so a visit from 4th placed Netherton Con will have few fears with this increasingly looking like a match between two teams with little at stake.
There is a top two confrontation in Division 2 this week with Marsh United 'A' taking their current winning run which is in double figures to Skel Windmill 'A' who have won all their home matches this season. The Marsh team currently hold a 19-point lead over their rivals so nothing much is going to change this week.
Holmfirth 'A' are in a season-best 5-match winning run which has elevated them to 3rd place and with a trip to lowly Meltham scheduled will be looking to take advantage of the outcome of the top of the table clash and plant themselves firmly in the promotion mix. Meltham have their own reasons for needing a result from this match as they try to narrow the 5-point gap to safety but still with a safeguard game in hand to come. Slaithwaite have only fielded 4 bowlers in their last 3 league games, lost them all heavily and will look to change that this week with bottom-of-the-table Skel Windmill 'B' as visitors.
Into Division 3 where there is a meeting of the 2nd v 3rd placed teams which could go a long way to sorting out the second promotion place. Almondbury Lib have a 3-point lead over Hemplow and home advantage when the teams meet this Monday. The leaders are Golcar Lib who go into this week's match at home to Thongsbridge 'A' secure in the knowledge, that a 13-point lead gives them, that they will still be leading the way whatever the outcome of this week's round of fixtures.
Marsh Lib are on a run of 4 straight wins which has seen them appear on the fringe of the promotion battle and they can muscle in on that even further with a big win away at Holmfirth 'B' who are one place but 10-points behind them.
