Veterans League
Preview of the Veterans 6-Man League fixtures for Monday 10 June
No team in Division 1 is in better form than Waterloo having won their last six matches and with a trip to play bottom team Lockwood Con this Tuesday they have every chance of extending that sequence. Whether that will be sufficient to move them up from their current third place remains to be seen but the two teams above them both have more difficult away fixtures scheduled.
The leaders, Skel Windmill A, go to play 5th-placed Netherton Con who have lost their last two matches. Reigning title holders, Marsh United A sit second and are on a run of four straight wins, a record they hope to extend away at Thongsbridge A this week.
Only Netherton Con of the top seven teams in the table are playing at home this week as Golcar C&BC (at Paddock I&C), Brockholes A (at Slaithwaite) and Milnsbridge A (at Crosland Moor) all figure and remain hopeful of featuring more prominently in a table which shows the top 10 teams being separated by only 10 points.
Lindley Lib A and Shepley are mid-table and face each other with the winner likely to be elevated into the top half and the loser dropping very near to the drop zone.
Elland C&BC have lost all 9 of their Division 2 fixtures this season and only collected 10 points in total. A trip to New Mill this Monday hardly feeds them with anticipation of a win and as they are 10 points behind the nearest team will remain bottom regardless of any combination of results. The three teams immediately above them all have home matches and Linthwaite Hall will be aiming to narrow the 5 points gap there is between them and Hemplow and Almondbury Lib. They will have to beat Greenhead Park A to have any chance of doing that but last week's 5-2 away win at Marsh Lib will have heartened them of their chances.
Almondbury Lib and Hemplow are both on the same 25 points mark and play at home to Bradley & Colne and Marsh Lib A respectively. Bradley & Colne have won 6 of their last 7 fixtures so will provide stern opposition to the strugglers.
At the top of the table Golcar Lib and Clayton West are both on 48 points. Clayton West have won all 9 of their matches to date but will be tested away at 5th-placed Holmfirth A on Monday. Meanwhile Golcar Lib have home advantage over mid-table Lindley Lib B and would expect to outperform the Clayton West result and so remain top.
Brockholes B can expect to lose their lead at the top of the Division 3 table as they are without a match this week and have just a 3-points lead over Denby Dale. Having won all 8 of their fixtures this season Denby Dale will have few fears of going to play Marsh United B. Behind the top two there are three teams on the same 33-points mark. They are the B teams from Skel Windmill, Marsh Lib and Thongsbridge. All play teams in the bottom half of the table and if they have promotion aspirations then all will need to win these matches to stay in contention.
