A review of the results from Divisions 3 and 4 of the 6-Man League on the opening day of the 2025 season.

All five home teams in Division 3 won their matches this week and so they take up the top five places in the first table of the new season. Greenhead Park are playing their fixtures at Thorpe Green this season, where they were among that bunch and their 6-1 win over Hemplow A saw them take second place behind Almondbury Lib who had an opening day whitewash 7-0 win over Elland C&BC.
My call for the Division 3 Match of the Day was rewarded with the closest encounter of the day as Primrose Hill Lib saw off Denby Dale by 4-3 as last season's 3rd and 4th placed finishers went head-to-head. Marsh Lib B and Milnsbridge B being the other two winners by the same 5-2 scoreline.

Three of the four new teams to the League played their first Division 4 fixtures on Monday and all showed encouraging signs of a good season ahead. Two of the three had big wins which pushed them into the two promotion places after Day 1 of the new campaign. A whitewash 7-0 win for Hemplow B over Greenhead Park B puts them top of the inaugural table with Netherton Con B just a point behind them after a 6-1 away win at Brockholes C.
Clayton West were the third new team on duty on the first day of the new season and they just missed out on a win losing the aggregate 92-97 to go down 3-4 at home to Skel Windmill B. As these two teams were my beginning of season selections for promotion I take heart, as should both teams, for good times ahead. Meltham were one of the seven teams relegated from Division 3 in the reorganisation of the divisions and they showed their intent with a good 5-2 away win over Marsh United B.
New Mill B had their bye-week and look forward to starting their season next Monday but before then Thongsbridge C and Shepley B will have played their Friday fixture as the 2025 season is now really up and running.
