League News
The veteran bowlers competitions start up on Monday with the 6-Man League opening events with an almost complete round of league fixtures for the 28 teams left in the competition. The one exception being at Lindley Liberal where major works in the club mean no access to the bowling green until later this month. Their opening day fixture against Shepley will now be played at Shepley on 7 May.
Elsewhere the Section A Champions, Netherton Con, begin the defence of their title with a home match against Oakfield T&BC. As they haven't lost a home game since August 2018 (2-5 v Shepley) then their confidence will be high in starting with a resolute defence of their crown. Promoted Longwood will start their season at reinstated Brockholes A.
The new boys in Section B are Honley Con who will play their home matches on the Lowerhouses green. They look to have a strong line-up and that will be well tested with an opening day trip to Skel Windmill A. Promoted Marsh United open their campaign with a visit to Primrose Hill Liberal with the other promoted team, Meltham, having home advantage over Skel Windmill B.
The new team in Section C from Holmfirth B entertain Hemplow whilst their relegated A side travel to another new team representing Slaithwaite C&BC.
