Preview of Wednesday fixtures in Divisions 1 and 2
Thorpe Green A could be sat on the sidelines and still become the Division 1 title winners this Wednesday. If Lower Hopton don't win their match against Clayton West 8-0 then Thorpe Green will be crowned as the 2024 Champions despite having a bye-week.
Interest will also be focused at the foot of the table where Golcar Lib and Lowerhouses A are already relegated but with the threat of three teams being relegated then a number of teams will be nervous about their futures. Meltham currently occupy that third place and have to face Lindley BC A who could be dragged into the battle if they lost this match.
The Golcar Lib v Kirkheaton Con A match has been rearranged for 10am on the following Wednesday due to a clash with a Cons club member's funeral.
It is the runners-up slot in Division 2 that is of special interest with Denby Dale currently holding the second promotion place but the three teams behind them all have aspirations of claiming it for themselves. Denby Dale have to play third-placed Lindley Lib A which is likely to prove crucial in the promotion battle as the teams in 4th and 5th positions are also in opposition this week. Lindley BC B and Milnsbridge A meet with both teams still having hopes of results going their way and pushing them into contention for the second promotion place.
At the foot of the table things are also very fluid as Brockholes A play their last match of the season aaginst bottom team Huddersfield Recreation Club A. As the only other team below them is Springwood A who face Champions Cowcliffe A there is a great opportunity for Brockholes to steer clear of the two automatic relegation places.
