Another busy Wednesday with League matches played at Milnsbridge, Springwood, Primrose Hill Lib and Lindley Lib as well as the Division 2 Qualifying Round at Cowcliffe at the same time. This posting just looks at the Divisions 1 and 3 results where neither table toppers could raise a win between them.
On Tuesday the top two teams in Division 2 both failed to win when the pressure was on and they both were held to draws by bottom three opponents. Something similar happened in Division 1 on Wednesday where the leaders and already crowned Champions, Thorpe Green A, were held to a 4-4 draw by Kirkheaton Con A who avoided being sucked into a relegation place as a result.
Cowcliffe strengthened their hold on the runners-up spot by beating Lindley BC A by 8-0 to open a 4-points gap over Lower Hopton who had a 6-2 win over Meltham who are relegated as a result. The last day of the season will see Cowcliffe taking on Thorpe Green where a win for Cowcliffe would ensure them of the runners-up place which would be an admirable finish for the newly promoted addition to the top division.

A last-day collapse by Denby Dale saw them drop from top spot in the table for the first time this season. Their timing couldn't have been worse when losing 0-8 to Springwood A as that allowed New Mill B to overtake them to claim the title by a better 'Aggregate For' points total. That last-day collapse came on top of one win in their last four fixtures which enabled New Mill B, finishing with 5 straight wins, to pinch the title from them. New Mill B didn't start the season well only winning 2 of their first 6 matches but were unbeaten after that.
That big win for Springwood A enabled them to stay out of the relegation places with those being reserved for Huddersfield Recreation Club A and Brockholes A who both lost their final fixtures at this level. The one consolation for the Recreation Club came with their bowler Trevor Atkinson taking the Top Bowler award and he can be seen below receiving his trophy for that.
