Winter League
It is Finals Day in the Winter Cup to be played at Springwood this Sunday (16 April) starting at 1.00pm. We are down to the last eight who will all be aiming to become the second name engraved on the trophy following on from Stephen Haigh of Lindley BC who claimed the title last year.
The 104 entries have been whittled down through a series of knock-out rounds and just three scratch bowlers are in the final eight and they are all in the same half of the draw. That means at least one handicapped bowler will be going through to the final with two Division 5 and two Division 2 bowlers in the other half of the draw. Amazingly none of last year's quarter-finalists have progressed to the same stage this year.
Huddersfield Recreation Club bowler John Sunter will be aiming to continue his giant-killing run when he takes on the competition favourite Ian Briggs of Thorpe Green in the quarter-finals. It all happens on Sunday with sunshine promised and Springwood hospitality guaranteed so every reason to get yourselves there.
Bowlsnet Live will be in operation throughout Sunday's Finals Day. So if you can't get to Springwood then you can still follow the latest scores on the Winter League Bowlsnet pages, just click on Comps from the top border menu and then click on Winter Cup Final Rounds.
All bowlers are reminded that the BCGBA dress code applies and bowlers should wear black or navy blue trousers and a collared shirt,
