Winter League
The Division 4 season at Primrose Hill Lib is up and running with blue skies and shirt-sleeved bowlers scurrying around a wonderfully running green. A reorganisation of the divisions has seen the Pip Hill Lib venue drop a level to Division 4 with 5 teams that played in Division 3 last season still operating on the same green. Add to that the Champions of Divisions 5 and 6 (Slaithwaite and Linthwaite Hall) along with one surviving team from last season's Division 4 mid-table, Netherton Con A, to complete the 2024-25 line-up.
All four matches on the opening day resulted in a 6-2 scoreline with Rastrick, Slaithwaite, Netherton Con A and Dalton the four victors. The top scorers on the day being Netherton Con A collecting a 60-point aggregate score whilst the closest scoreline being the 4 points difference (45-41) between Rastrick and Linthwaite Hall. This all adds up to indicate the likelihood of a close run division this year which should keep everyone involved and interested. The thing about the new format of 8 teams in a division tends to lead to teams being involved in matters at one end of the table or the other end, which maintains the level of competition we all like to see.
The next round of fixtures on Monday 21 October only has three matches being played as the Thorpe Green B v Slaithwaite match has been postponed due to a Thorpe Green club member's funeral on the same day. That match will now be played on Monday 4 November and is the only match to be played on that date due to key Primrose Hill Lib personnel being away on holiday and unable to provide basic services expected on Winter League matchdays. Bowlsnet has been updated to reflect all these changes.
