Yorkshire Ladies win is not enough

Bowling News

A good win for the Yorkshire Ladies team on Sunday may prove not enough to see them through to the Semi-Finals of the BCGBA Senior Ladies Championship. That is because Shropshire made it two wins from two matches and with a match to come against Dudley & District are nailed on to win the Section 2 Round Robin. Only the four section winners progress through to the Semi-Finals.

The Yorkshire team did all that was asked of them in beating their Dudley counterparts by a game count of 15-9 with an aggregate win of 432-392. However Shropshire beat Warwick & Worcester by 14-10 over the two games total and an aggregate total advantage of just 5 chalks by 427-422.

Dudley & District sit at the bottom of the four-team Section 2 and unless they turn their fortunes around dramatically in their final match against Shropshire then Yorkshire will miss out on any further involvement in this year's competition. That would be a disappointing end to the campaign after being involved in the last three finals of the competition, winning it twice. That's bowling for you.

Whilst topping the group is out of their hands, finishing second & extending the season in the Mavis Dearden is firmly in sight. a win over W & W gets second at least and should Dudley pull off the shock, it would mean topping the group on aggregate. Was always going to be tough in this group with arguably 3 of the best sides in it A great debut win for 16 year old, Poppy Fox at home too.
