The opening rounds of matches in this year's BCGBA Senior Men's County Championship will be played on Sunday 5 May starting at 2.00pm. The teams for the Yorkshire v Staffordshire matches have been released along with the greens where the matches are to be played.
The home team match is to be played on the top green at Spen Victoria whilst the away team play at Castlefields BC in Stafford. Full details below.
Some interesting sub plots No Yorkshire Merit winner from 2023 who also went deep in BCGBA comps reaching CofC final losing to Greg Smith & Merit semis losing to Simon Coupe. Robbie Ellis has been selected to play No 1 for Greater Manchester away so going back to the "Roger Crowther" route to get County games (already played 12 times for them) & won't be able to defend the YM in 2024 if he plays for GM.
Johnathan Wood, 12 games unbeaten from debut, would need Yorkshire to get to the final & remain unbeaten to equal the record streak for Yorkshire.
