Yorkshire Veteran Ladies miss out on Final

Bowling News

A 6.15am start to a 100-mile ride is hardly the ideal preparation for a day of highly competitive bowling at County level. That was how things started for the Yorkshire Ladies team competing in the BCGBA Veteran Ladies Championship at Wem BC in North Shropshire on Tuesday. The Yorkshire team have won this competition in 2 of the last 3 years that it has been held and were the losing finalist to South Yorkshire last year.

With 16 county teams contesting the title there were four groups of four 8-ladies teams playing a Round Robin of three matches each. Games were 15-up with two points available for the best aggregate scoring team. The Yorkshire Ladies team won two of their three matches and despite winning 4 of the 8 games against Warwick & Worcester Ladies lost out on the aggregate score. That means that they finished as runners-up in Group D and that is the end of their involvement in this year's competition.

The four Group winners will return for Finals Day which is Tuesday 25 June at a venue still to be confirmed. All the Yorkshire results are listed below along with the final tables for all four Groups.
